Anticipated Books || 2016 & 2017

Most people are posting about only books in 2016 that they wish to pick up, but there are so many I want to read in 2017! So many books are coming out in 2017 and I would rather not ostracize them and start embracing them as @016 draws to a midway point. Let’s get into that!

This list is in NO particular order (except for the first book):

  1. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare: April 11th 2017 by Margaret K. Books; This is my most anticipated book ever. Lady Midnight was one of the best books I have ever read and i am sooooo excited for this sequel. I need more answers!
  2.  Heartless by Marissa Meyer:November 8th 2016 by Feiwel and Friends; I really love Wonderland and Alice In Wonderland is my favorite Disney movie and Children’s book. I have always loved the Queen of Hearts and I am so interested in her story! Can’t wait.
  3. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor: September 27th 2016 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers; The writing in this just seems so beautiful and I really want to anticipate a Laini Taylor novel
  4. This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab: July 5th 2016 by Greenwillow Books; Again, I have never read a book by her, but the premise is so intriguing.
  5. Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi: August 30th 2016 by Dutton Books for Young Readers; I disliked Shatter Me, but the writing was good and it’s middle grade so it will be easier and enjoyable.
  6. Carve The Mark by Veronica RothJanuary 17th 2017 by Katherine Tegen Books; A new duo logy by Veronica Roth? Yes please. Can’t wait to see how she writes this series and how if she can truly prove her worth as my favorite author.
  7.  RoseBlood by A.G. HowardJanuary 10th 2017 by Amulet Books; UGHH. The Phantom of the Opera means so much to me. My teacher introduced it to me and he was obsessed with it and his influence on it sparked my love for it (I saw it on Broadway). This is a retelling of that and i know that Howard is a great retelling author and I am so excited for this!!
  8. Stealing Snow by Danielle PaigeSeptember 20th by Bloomsbury USA Childrens; I really enjoyed The Snow Queen on Once Upon A Time and Danielle is also a fantastic author of retellings, so I am so intrigued.

That’s all that I really am excited about, but I know there will be more as I finish Throne of Glass, ACATAR, and other books with sequels coming out. Have a great day!

#TBRTakedown 4.0 || What I’m Reading

If you are all unaware of what this, I will leave a link to the video on YouTube. #TBRTakedown is a read-a-thon with challenges and is held by @LeaningLights on Youtube! I haven’t participated in any of the other ones, but I love her channel and I am so excited to do it now! Without further a due, here is the challenges and my TBR.

  1. A book that has been on your TBR for OVER A YEAR: The book I am choosing has been on my TBR list since November 18, 2014 according to Goodreads. That book is A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I have finally bought this and am dying to pick it up.
  2. A sequel (ONLY A SEQUEL): I chose The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey because I loved the first book, but i just never got around to it. Now with the third book out and the series completed, there is no better time than during this.
  3. First book in a series: This book will have to be The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han because I just got out of school and I need something summer-y.
  4. Out of my comfort zone: This is a type of genre that I have never read, but now I’m finally trying it out now and that is Adult Thrillers. The book is Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn. Sadly I have not read Gone Girl, but I do not own it and I have heard fantastic things about this book as well.
  5. A Book from your most recent Book Haul: I had MANY MANY books in my most recent book haul, so this is kinda hard. The book I am most excited about is Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes. I saw Alice Through The Looking Glass and have really wanted something else to do with Wonderland and it was in my book haul, so why not read it now?

That’s all for now! You guys should check out @LeaningLights on YouTube decause her videos are so great and thus readathon is so intriguing! Thanks so much guys, see you soon!

My All-Time Favorite TV Shows

I feel like doing something different and when I’m not reading, I’m watching Netflix. So here is this list!

one_tree_hill_all_by_brucas-d38pj7s

  1. One Tree Hill – This the best show I have ever seen in my lifetime. I love it more than words can express. The mixture of basketball, books, love, and art make this show so different and are everything I love. These characters just became my family and I just felt like i knew them. If you haven’t seen it, go watch all 9 seasons on Netflix (BELIEVE ME ITS WORTH IT)

    The Walking Dead
  2. The Walking Dead – Just saying, i love this show so much, but my love for it does not NEARLY match my love for One Tree Hill. This is not a show about zombies, but merely the people living in the apocalypse. Of course zombies are in it, but this show just makes you feel for the characters and the writers don’t mind killing ANYONE and i mean ANYONE. I became so warped into this show and even tweeted a lot about it and i never tweet. Can’t express how good this is.
  3. Stephen-Amell-Arrow-Season-4-Poster-Aim-HigherArrow – This is NOT your normal superhero show. You will become so naturally in love with the city and the people in this. I completely binged this series and just couldn’t get enough. I even bought some of the comics! The best superhero that exists in pop culture today! #TeamDC tumblr_nrwpt2rY7q1rgxw63o3_1280.png
  4. Once Upon A Time – Oh dear, Once. This show nearly sparked my close bond with my mother. My whole family would sit in the living room every Sunday at 8 to watch this and we never missed an episode. Once my sister moved away, i started to watch it in my mom’s room and we would just talk about it everyday. It brought us so close together and i look forward to every sunday just so I can watch it with her. This show while it has its faults, is so original and brilliant. It keeps alive the bit of child still inside me. This will always be 1 of my favorites. it-s-back-grey-s-anatomy-delivers-in-season-12-premiere-630742.jpg
  5. Grey’s Anatomy – This show is very dear to my heart for many reasons. I started watching this because my mom had the first season on dvd and we binged it one day. I then began to watch the rest on netflix and it just sparked my interest in becoming a surgeon. I would love to pursue this dream and by watching it, it gives me a tiny bit of insight. Also, my friends started watching it after i told them all about it and they automatically loved it. WE talked about it day after day, even competing on how would finish first (I WON). It is definitely not as bad and soapy as most people perceive it as. It is not the best show but it still a very good show and anyone who is interested in doctors should give it a go!

Thanks for tuning in guys! TV is my other getaway and i could chat about it all day. I promise i’ll more posts like this! See you guys in my next post!

LONG OVERDUE BOOK HAUL

Hey guys! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted and there’s a big reason. I started reading Clockwork Angel, but I brought it to school and kept leaving it there, so I just kept waiting to read it and not anything else. It eventually put me in a book slump and I lost interest in reading for a long time. I got back into reading and finished Clockwork Angel, so that’s why I’m back. Without further adue, her is my book haul!

  1. So, first I’m gonna start with a book I purchased from Costco. That book is The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan. Apollo is my favorite God because I love music so much and archery and all of his other books were so great so I just made my mom get it for me. Next, I got The Copper Gauntlet by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare from my school’s Scholastic Book Fair. it was the last remaining book by Cassie that I don’t own, so I had to buy it. I got Me Before You by JoJo Moyes and holy crap, this novel was beautifully written and also heartbreaking. It is definitely one of the top books I have read this year. Also, I got Gameboard of the Gods by Richelle Mead and Astray by Emma Donohughe from The Dollar Tree. The rest of the books are from my favorite book store ever, The Book Rack. It’s such a community environment and they all know me in there. I have store credit, so all used books are 50% off and new 20%. I have about 20 books, so let’s get to that. The first book I purchased from there was Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: Book 1 by Rick Riordan. I saw this for $10 and it was used so it was only $5 and I was dying to own it and read so why not. Next, I picked up 2 classics, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Badbury and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I bought Fahrenheit for $3.50 because I chose to read it for summer reading and To Kill A Mockingbird was just on my TBR list for so long and I need to read it. I own the second book because it’s my sisters so I want to read them back to back. I then picked up two fairytale retellings, Unhooked by Lisa Maxwell and Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oakes. Again, these books were so cheap and Peter Pan & Alice In Wonderland are absolutely my two favorite fairytales (Fun Fact: I was the Mad Hatter one year and Peter Pan one year and also Captain Hook another year.) I recommend the movie Through The Looking Glass because it just gave me so many feelings and pushed me to read more fairytales and retellings. I picked up three verse novels, Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, I Heart You, You Haunt Me by Lisa Schroeder, and Crank by Ellen Hopkins. I am going to post a review for Milk and Honey soon because I loved it and IHYYHM and Crank are next on my TBR pile. I then picked up two adult thriller novels, Dark Places by Gillian Flynn and Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll. I am bummed out because they also had Sharp Objects, but sadly I haven’t bought it yet. I bought a signed copy of Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys for $2.50 (I know right)! The most anticipated buy for me was A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas and I can’t wait until I finally pick it up (i wanna buy ACOMAF first). Mindy Kaling is my favorite comedian and I saw her book so I had to pick it up

MARCH BOOK HAUL

Hey, guys!  It’s been a really long and slow week and I haven’t been able to write and post this week. I am back now and I will do my daily posts next week! So let’s get into the book haul! This month, I only purchased 3 books and received 1 as review. The first book probably comes as no shocker to you, but it is Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare. I have a review up, so you can go check it out right now! I absolutely loved it and devoured it. The next book I received for review. The author’s publisher reached out to me to be apart of the blog tour and I gradually accepted. That book is The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas. I enjoy it so far, and am glad to be on the blog tour. Next, I bought The Program by Suzanne Young from a used book store called The Book Rack. They sell used and new books in there and if you trade in books you Owen, you get a credit, which can be used towards books. The last book I picked up is also from there and it is The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey. I saw this for only $10 (it was cheaper because I have store credit) and I needed it. I read The 5th Wave awhile ago and I loved it, but didn’t have money to get the second book, but now the last book is coming out soon, and I can’t wait to read it! That’s it this month, guys! Hopefully it’s more next month, but we’ll see! Thanks for tuning in.

LADY MIDNIGHT (The Dark Artifices, Book #1) REVIEW

OH.MY.GOD. This book made me feel things I’ve never felt before. It was one of the best books I’ve ever read. So, if you haven’t read The Mortal Instruments series you shouldn’t even be here. People who haven’t read Lady Midnight, I suggest you leave now or be spoiled. Without further ado, here is the book summary from Goodreads:

                                                                                                        SUMMARY

The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel. It’s been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning, but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses. Together with her parabatai Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn’t lead her in treacherous directions… Making things even more complicated, Julian’s brother Mark—who was captured by the faeries five years ago—has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind—and they need the Shadowhunters’ help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn’t recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it? The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare’s newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.
THIS BOOK BROKE MY HEART, PUT A BANDAGE ON IT, THEN RIPPED IT RIGHT OFF AGAIN. I loved all of the characters in this book so much. They had so much depth to who they were. I loved that Cassandra showed shadowhunters with mental disabilities. Cassandra is so extraordinary at building her characters and making them all so unique. I am going to do reviews of each character. Just saying now, I loved Kit when I opened up the book. He is my favorite urgghhh.

Emma Carstairs: Emma is such a strong and beautiful character. I loved the bond between Julian and Emma. The second he came into the story, I completely shipped them. The beach scene *you know what I’m talking bout ;)* was SOOO perfect. She never gives up on family and that’s what I love about her.

Julian Blackthorn: I liked Julian and thought he was a very dense and strong. He grew up so fast and had to raise his siblings at such a young age AND run the institute. He was incredible. Again, I completely ship Julian and Emma and his heart is gonna shatter when he hears that Emma and Mark are “dating.” 😦

Ty Blackthorn:  Ty was a very special and different character for Cassandra to write about. At first, I was thinking he was autistic, but then I realized he was something else. I really enjoyed that he and Livvy had such a strong bond and I really felt for his character.

Livvy Blackthorn: Livvy was sort of quiet, but I always knew what she was trying to say. She is always protecting Ty and doesn’t want to see him hurt. Their bond was so beautiful.

Drusilla Blackthorn: Not going into depth with her, but I just loved her character. Such a great addition.

Tavvy Blackthorn: Little, sweet Tavvy. He was so hilarious and adorable. When he was in the tub of sugar, I died laughing. When Malcolm tried to kill him, I got so angry.

Mark Blackthorn: He was so interesting and I loved his and Crsitina’s scenes because they just have this weird chemistry and I ship them very much. His story was very sad, especially about Kieran. Mark is a unique character because I feel like bisexual characters aren’t In literature enough and he was perfect. Love him.

Cristina Rosales: At first, she was very dark and gloomy and I didn’t understand her, but her story unraveled and it was beautiful and painful. Emma needed a girl to talk with and she slowly became Cristina’s best friend. Diego and her were not a good couple, in my opinion. I enjoyed Diego, but not with her. MARK + CRISTINA = <3.

Perfect Diego: It’s all in the name. Still, I did not like him and Cristina together. A great and funny character, though.

Diana: Very mysterious character, but I enjoyed how she was always protecting the Blackthorns. I need to now more about her urgghhh.

Arthur: I loved learning about his lunacy and why he is the way he is. Very strange And disturbed character.

KIT HERONDALE: Oh my lord. The moment I read the Prologue about Kit and his dad, I longed for more. I just loved his character so much. I knew he was a shadowhunter, but didn’t know about him being a HERONDALE. This was crazy! I already loved him, but this happening made me feel even more for him. NEED MORE KIT IN MY LIFE.

Malcolm Fade: I saved the best for last. I did not expect this at all. I was just like, “Oh yay. We get another warlock who’s gonna be really close with the shadow hunters.” But, nope. Cassandra completely blew my mind. Malcolm was trying to resurrect his dead lover, Annabel. It was very shocking to me that he killed Emma’s parents and that mattered more to me than his involvement in the fae murders. I do not think he’s dead because it wasn’t confirmed, but we’ll have to see.

The whole Parabatai curse made sens, but I hate it. I just want my babies to be together please. I cannot wait for the second book. I did not expect to over these characters as much as I did. It just happened. Deal with it.

This book was mind blowing and I liked it even better than TMI and idk why. This book gets 5 stars. EXCEPTIONAL READ.
